Switching To Green
In recent years, there is a growing trend of understanding that fossil fuel is not going to last forever, and that at some point there will be none to be used. That, as well as the fact that the usage of oil is dramatically damaging our environment - most likely irreversibly - is leading a greater number of people each day to start adopting "green" lifestyles.
This effectively means that instead of powering your house from the standard electricity grid, you'd be using solar power, wind power, biomass energy, or even hydroelectric power. This is definitely far better for the environment, but after the necessary equipment has been installed, this is effectively free! You gain the power from - literally (pun intended) - thin air! Consequently, it is a win-win situation. Both we win by saving money, and so does planet Earth.
Fortunately, more individuals join this cause every day. Most of them only slightly change their lifestyles, which is a good start, but quite a few take the more difficult route and completely switch to alternative sources of energy, the ones mentioned before.
This is possible either by setting an appointment with a specialist and talking to him about the available alternatives and then buying the required equipment. The equipment costs money, yes, but this is money that in the medium run will be rapidly saved through cheaper electricity payments.
Another option is to do it yourself. There are a lot of books available that teach you facts about solar energy. Quite a few of books and eBooks that will teach you how to build your own wind turbine. Envision creating your very own wind power generators: surely that would be a fabulous feeling, saving the environment with your own hands.
Despite the fact it is not something I have done myself (yet), it is certainly something I plan on doing in the very near future.
