Asthma is a chronic disease that affects the airways

Asthma is a chronic disease that affects the airways by making the inside walls become sore, swollen and very sensitive to allergens. When the airways react they get narrower keeping the lungs from getting enough air. This usually leads to chest tightness, breathing issues, coughing and wheezing. An asthma attack is an acute exacerbation of asthma, a worsening of all asthma symptoms which can sometimes lead to death. In cases of allergic asthma the same substances that set off the allergy symptoms can also inflame the airways. The most common allergens are: grass pollen, mold spores, pet epithelial cells, dust mite or cockroach feces, perfume or perfumed products, tobacco smoke etc.
