It is very important to give your back a good workout too. To have a strong muscular back means that you're at much less risk to injure your back. It also gives you a great posture.

Here are two back muscle exercises:

Lying Back Extensions

This one gives both your lower and your upper back a great workout.
Starting position; Lie down on your stomach on a mat on the floor with your arms extended in line with your body in front of you.
Movement; While inhaling, lift both your arms and upper body and your legs at the same time. While in the top position, pause for a few moments and them slowly lower yourself down again to the starting position.
If you find it too hard in the beginning, you can raise you upper body or your legs separately.

Lat Machine Pulldown

This one is great for building strong back muscles.
Starting position; sit down on the lat machine with your thighs under the pads and the feet on the floor. Hold the bar with a grip that's a bit wider than your shoulders.
Movement; Pull your arms toward the thighs while keeping them straight. Pause in the extended position before slowly bringing your arms back to the starting position.
