The Benefits of Meditation
When learning how to meditate, an individual emerging from a period of meditation, however brief, will notice a change in their emotional state from when they started their meditation exercise.
This can present itself in many ways, often as a feeling of being refreshed, with a more positive attitude and a general feeling of well-being. Things that had been bothering them may now be seen m a new and more helpful way. They have a different perspective on things and feel much more in control.
These reactions to various meditation techniques have been known for years, but only in recent times has a physiological explanation been available. Knowledge gained from brain scans and the measurement of brain wave patterns has given new information about the "alpha state".
